Why do lesbians dress like dudes?

While browsing through some Flickr photo pages, I came upon this image.

The image begs the question: Why do so many lesbians dress, act, and look like men?

Straight women generally don't talk in basso tones, cut off all their hair (except for a maybe a mullet), go unshaven in the leg and pit areas, walk around sans makeup, and wear boy's clothing. (I said generally; hippies and feminists and fat rednecks notwithstanding.)

I thought that lesbians liked women. To me, being a woman is soft, feminine, sensual, pretty- not looking like a man with different parts underneath.

I'm firmly stationed on the hetero team, but if I was to switch, I sure would not want a woman who looked, acted, talked, and dressed like a dude!

What's the point of being sexually attracted to women if all the gay women look like men? Basically, then, you've reduced it to penis vs. vagina/boobies. There's so much more to it than just that!

I beg to differ that straight women don't do these things. Mr. First Year's mother (who I hate, and who I believe to be a man) is sporting the standard butch look. However, she has recently had her midlife crisis, decided to be a corrections officer then quit and is now happily a cop.

So maybe the "style" is for her "career".

I am definetly not bitter....

Because you don't notice all the lesbians walking around looking just like straight girls.

I don't know any lesbian who doesn't shave her legs, arm pits or pussy.
And I know some...

Maybe lesbians just don't care so much about gender roles, maybe we act and look exactly like we want and don't give a shit about what other people say.
And, (btw, I like shaved girls with make up), the ideal girl is made to please men. We don't want men. So why follow the "fashion" set for women who want men?

And, who has decided that we (women) have to shave and wear make up when men don't? We use make up in order to look better, then why don't men?
We shave because we don't want to look hairy, but men, who have more hair than us, don't shave. That's weird.

We like women.

How do men generally act?
How do men generally dress?
Why put so much importance to all these attributes that really don't matter?

Well, all gay women don't look like men. It hasn't just happened once or twice that I have mistaken a straight girl for a lesbian.
